Performance Readiness Virtual Workshops!!!

NMEA is proud to provide the opportunity for your students to work with WORLD CLASS MUSICIANS including: Imani Winds, Rebecca Young, and Kelly Nassief! Click on the pictures below for more information!

 

                                                                           

 

NMEA is pleased to present an opportunity for your students to perform with WORLD CLASS MUSICIANS! Clinicians for grades 10-12 are professional musicians including members of professional orchestras and college professors from around the country!

Clinicians for grades 5 – 9 are some of our finest NYSSMA certified adjudicators.

Workshops are available for all instruments, voice types,
and ability levels!

 

Who:
Band, Chorus, and Orchestra students in grades 5 – 12.
Virtual workshops are open to students of all ability levels.
NYSSMA participation is not a prerequisite.
Students are encouraged to perform during these workshops, but they may also audit.

What: Interactive personalized workshops tailored to ability level of students. Workshops will take place via Zoom. Topics to be covered include:
Brief Performance by Clinician
Effective Practice Strategies
Sight Reading/Singing
Repertoire preparation: NYSSMA solos, school ensemble literature, and more!
Instrument Specific Technique
Audition Preparation
**Please note, these are not master classes. These workshops have been designed to be as interactive as possible- student performance is encouraged! Number of students in each workshop will depend on registration and clinician availability.**
Teachers may audit these workshops at no cost.

When: Weekend of February 5th – 7th
Students will be assigned a specific time slot.
Sessions will run approximately 60 – 90 minutes.
Students will be assigned a workshop time based on school grade and ability level.
Links will be sent to teachers approximately two weeks before the event.

How:
Teachers must NOMINATE students. There is no nomination limit!
Teachers must be registered NMEA members. Click HERE to contact our membership chairperson.
NYSSMA participation is not a prerequisite.
Nominate any of your students who you think would appreciate this experience! This is an opportunity to include your advanced students as well as your dedicated students who may not have normally participated in All County.
Registration Fee: $15.00 per student.
Fees can be paid through BOCES Arts in Ed and are aid-able.
Students will be asked to complete a commitment form.

Decide which students you would like to invite to participate. Here is an informational flyer you can download to distribute or post for your students.
Give students this commitment form. (Click here and download).
Enter the student information into the nomination form, due by January 8th, 2021.

Timeline:
Students return commitment form to music teacher by Wednesday January 6th, 2021.
Teachers nominate students by Friday, January 8th, 2021 at 11:59 P.M.
Students will receive their time slot approximately two-three weeks before the event.

Students who participate will receive certificates!

We hope you will take advantage of the opportunity for you and your students to work with musicians from around the country with whom we normally would not have the chance to work.
